Award-winning songwriter with the voice of an angel, Lizzy Hoyt delivers music with soaring melodies rooted in Celtic and folk traditions.
Acclaimed songwriter, Lizzy Hoyt is one of Canada’s most powerful Celtic-folk artists. Known for bringing Canadian history to life with music, her songs like “Vimy Ridge”, “White Feather”, and “New Lady on the Prairie” have garnered awards and nominations while also connecting strongly with audiences across the country. In 2013, Lizzy was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Governor General of Canada for her outstanding contribution to commemorating Canadian veterans and history through music.
A talented multi-instrumentalist, Lizzy toured for ten years as a side musician before pursuing her own projects. She has been praised for her mastery of the fiddle, guitar and harp.
Lizzy is a full-time musician, singer and dancer who travels and tours throughout Canada during the year with her trio.
Lizzy has won numerous award during her career, including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. She has achieved a finalist position at both the USA Songwriting Awards and the Canadian Songwriting Awards, as well as nominations for Traditional Singer of the Year and Solo Artist of the Year with the Canadian Folk Music Association. She has won many awards for her Vimy Ridge Video, including the California Film Awards, Canada International Film Festival, International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts, and three awards from the Women’s Independent Film Festival, for best music, best directing and best acting.
She was very well-liked for her last show here, where she displayed her mastery of the guitar, the harp and the fiddle – even dancing, singing and fiddling at the same time!
