Master saxophonist Mark Lewis & the Tom Vickery trio deliver ballads, bebop, engaging original music, and jazz standards of the very highest standard.
Lewis, based in Washington state, is an amazing musician who, though profoundly visually impaired, has composed 1,700 works and has recorded and produced more than 30 records, including albums with such notable musicians as piano legend George Cables and vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson. He also performed with trumpet player Randy Brecker at the Palo Alto Jazz Festival.
Tom Vickery, former director of the Royal Roads Military Band, has hosted a jazz jam for decades at Hermann’s Jazz Club in Victoria. Vickery’s exuberant playing fills the stage with energy and joy.
