Lust Life Jazz Band
March 25 @ 2:00 pm$15.00
Victoria’s Lust Life Jazz Band, with leader Bryn Badel on trumpet and vocals and featuring the Valley’s own saxman, Wayne Kozak, delivers delicious ear food at Pat’s House of Jazz.
With a repertoire that stems from the love of the jazz song form and the Great American Songbook, the band takes inspiration from jazz, blues, bebop, funk, and swing.
Known for their stints as the house band at the Empress and The Hotel Grand Pacific among others, this West Coast-inspired modern jazz band will play some great cool horn-driven jazz and funky music along with some clever jazz interpretations of some modern pop songs.
Their eclectic stylings defy classical description. Their unique eclectic sound paints a mellifluous picture of west coast sound.
Ever versatile, Badel is a trained symphonic musician who has been featured on film scores, commercials, and many recordings, including sessions with jazz and blues singer Maureen Washington and the Vancouver Island Symphony.
Kozak has worked as a musician and composer with renowned artists such as Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Dionne Warwick, Tom Jones, Powder Blues, and Gladys Knight.
Rounding out this powerhouse band is Chris Thackray on drums, Rob Johnson on bass, and Al Vance on guitar.
The show is part of a regular Sunday afternoon jazz concert series at the pub, presented by the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society.
Table reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the pub at (250) 324-2245.
Reserved tables will be held until until 1:30 PM.
