This engaging piano trio, featuring three of Nanaimo’s most talented, versatile and experienced jazz musicians, delivers classic jazz standards along with some originals.
Pianist Patrick Courtin and bassist Marisha Devoin are graduates of Vancouver Island University’s bachelor of music program, while percussionist James McRae brings decades of experience as a musician, arranger and producer.
Chances are you’ve seen them all performing in various shows at The Chemainus Theatre Festival.
This show is a warm-up to a CD Courtin will be recoring with Devoin and McRae the next day.
Devoin has also worked with cruise ship orchestras and cabaret bands as well as jazz, bluegrass, R & B and progressive rock bands, while Courtin has toured with local tenor Ken Lavigne and was the director/pianist and an actor with the Theatre Royal in Barkerville Historical Town.
McRae, has performed with such jazz luminaries as Chris Whitely, Marc Atkinson, Scot White, Hugh Fraser, Kate Hammet-Vaughan, Floyd Standifer, Miles Black and Karel Roessingh.
The performance is part of the Pat’s House of Jazz series that runs most Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Osborne Bay Pub in Crofton, a stone’s throw from the Salt Spring Island ferry terminal.
Table reservations can be made by calling the pub at (250) 324-2245.
Reserved tables will be held until 30 minutes before showtime.
